Cancer incidence among different age groups from 1953 to 2021 and projected development until 2040 for different age groups. This forecast was made in May 2023 and is based on the trends observed up to 2019.
Age group 0-74
The number of diagnosed cancers among people under 75 years old is expected to remain almost the same in the coming years.
Age group 75-84
The impact of the baby boom is clearly reflected in the significant increase in cancer rates among people aged 75-84. The number of cases is expected to decline after 2031.
Age group 85+
For people aged 85 and above, the annual number of cases is projected to nearly double by 2040.
